Description

Does radical honesty work? Everyone talks about authenticity in marketing, but does it actually move the needle? I ran a several month product cover experiment to test if simply being honest, thinking outloud and being genuinely me in the moment would help move more merch. (spoiler alert - it didn't). Here is the swipe file if you're selling stuff online, but don't really need the cash. You're welcome.

PS - the key takeaway is this: People don't need more authenticity. They don't want you to keep it 100/100 or whatever the kids are saying these days. They don't want you to keep your shit legit as my 4 year old says while stealing his sisters grilled cheese sandwhiches on the way to his grandparents house. All that stuff sounds great until you tank a perfectly serviceable 3% conversion rate on cold traffic to a bunch of 20 something year old empath life coaches who have no idea who jason vorhees is.

Or was. I never watched the final installment in the series, so i live with that odd sense of uncertainty everytime i lace up the skates and fire nerf hockey pucks at the 6 foot 5 twelve year old goalie who moved in behind us.

PPS - The kid never makes a sound, and can't defend a middle aged dude with man bun with a full head of steam on the coldesac breakaway. That doesn't bode well for freshman year pucks, but i don't have the heart to tell him. BTW - apparently it's called a "court" now. When I was growing up we called it a coldesac. Anyway, the point is, authenticity is for losers who don't need to spring for summer camp this summer.
